Time to bitch about Jon & Kate

OK, I read that Jon is now now in talks to put his kids back on TLC because he is broke.  Honestly, I wish I could have those kids move in with me.  Not to exploit them, but to give them a real home.  Jon and Kate just want to whore out their kids in order to make money.  They are some of the lowest forms of human.  These are the types that make me hate to be an American.


First, you have kids because you want to love and reproduce.  It's one of the ultimate expressions of love that you can have with someone.  And the best part is that anyone can do this.  Gays and lesbians too.  If you have the ability to love on that level to have screaming, mouthy, eat-all-your-food, suck-up-all-your-money-and-time and all you get is a hug and an occasional "I love you", then you are parent material.  


As a parent you have to be willing to basically sacrifice anything and everything at the drop of a hat for your kids.  You lose your freedom, money, sex with people, television vegetation, video gaming and generally all sorts of fun, single-person partying.  If my kid wants to play and I want to watch television, I'm playing with Lincoln Logs (or usually just watching my kid play with them since I'm there to just watch as far as he is concerned - lil' bastard).  If I want to go see strippers and my kid wants to have a bedtime story, then at least I get to keep my twenty dollars (until they want it for a toy or something).


But back to Jon and Kate.  I've said that I hate Hollywood.  I more or less hate the idea of Hollywood and how they fuckup movies and entertainment in general.  But I really hate Jon and Kate.  I would literally love and giggle with joy to punch them over and over.  I think their kids might enjoy watching that too.  They are simply not parents.  This is when I wished that my government would step in and take those kids away.  Foster care has to be better than living with them.


I give everything I have to my kids.  And I smile when I do it and never regret or hold it over them.  I made them (not by myself - because if I did I would have a show on TLC... and it would be awesome with me riding around on a motorcycle and fighting bears with boxing gloves made of meat!!!) and I'm going to take care of them.  Till the day one of us dies, they are my responsibility.  I take that back, at 18 years old, the Army will be responsible for them then.

Superman Reboot again?

A warning to everyone, I'm a heavy movie watcher. I get Netflix to deliver DVD's to me and I watch them during my lunch at work. It's a good way to decompress. As such, I get to see a lot of movies (an hour lunch means that I get through most movies in a couple of days). So you'll see a lot of references or comments regarding movies, movie news, blah, blah, blah.

Which brings me to news of Superman getting another go. Good news, Christopher Nolan is involved apparently. Bad news, we don't need another reboot. Again, Hollywood just can't leave it alone. Amongst rebooting or remaking of several movies, they make movies on retarded (yes, the "R" word) toys. Battleship anyone?

Back to Superman. OK, he is the most well-known (at least in the US - most of the world doesn't know about him or very little) comic character in existence. True, Nolan resurrected Batman (probably the second best known) but I'm just looking for another Batman movie to tie up things and I want Nolan to move on. I read a comment somewhere (I think Pajiba) about they shouldn't reboot, just continue the story. I agree in some ways.

Honestly, I'm tired of ass-sucking directors. Make a modern version of Superman dammit. Black suit, maybe graying in the temples and a more tired and grizzled version. How about a Superman that has been a boyscout and began to lose faith in the goodness of people after losing Lois Lane and/or Jimmy Olsen. Now 20-30 years later hs shows signs of the weight of constanly saving people and the Earth. Explore that option. Doesn't have to be a "darker" version, just a more realistic version. I get tired of supporting dummies and it shows on my face and manner. I'm not "dark" necessarily, just tired and a little worn out.

And for the sake of sanity, no Luthor. At least not as a main villian. Go with Brainiac (not Superman 3 version either - yes, that giant computer near the end was Brainiac) like the cartoon series. Or even like the one in the image to the left. That's a Brainiac I would be scared of. Plus I could see him/it as a viable threat to Superman.

Come on Hollywood, don't rehash old stuff, if you plan on using characters from the past, then update them properly. I don't want to see an origins story. I can see Richard Donner's version, or the countless animations, comics, books, folklore, ask any nerd or just wiki Superman.

I hate you Hollywood.

A "WTF?" moment

So I read that "The Thing" will be remade. One of the best horror movies ever made (if you think Twilight is horror, just navigate away from this blog) is being remade. Like Planet of the Apes, this will suck. Some say it's a prequel of sorts. Doesn't matter. Quit remaking movies.

I guess at least they are raping past movies that were good rather than horrible. It's still rape though. Rape of my childhood memories (yes, my parents let me watch The Thing when I was a kid - they were hippies) from what movies were meant to be. Entertaining, thought-provoked mind-fucks.

Screw you Hollywood. I hate you.

Sacrifice

One of the most maddening parts of parents that I find in our society is the lack of follow-through by parents. Young and old parents just do not stick to their responsibility. I see it all the time, I work in child support. It's actually kind of funny, since I work in the child support world I figured that people that worked here would be a little more responsible. Not so. In fact, I think that only I and a couple of others here are actually still married to the same person and have raised or are raising their kids. The others are divorced, have kids and look for hand outs.

My wife and I thought long and hard about having kids. We lived together, got married, partied a few years and then decided to have kids. We have a strong relationship that is able to survive the constant attention our kids needs to the point where I don't see or talk to my wife for days at a time. We're in the same house, but we have kids that need us. We know at the end of it all, we'll have a lot of free time with each other and we make the sacrifice for our kids. We knew what it would take and opted to take it.

Some parents see divorce or running away as the best way to deal with the no-sleep, money-sucking kids they produce. WTF? Before you stick your dick in someone, can't you think of the lives you'll ruin? Not just yourself, your mate and the kid(s) that you make. The bear on society as a whole, the "system" and all sorts of other things. I think it was Chris Rock that said something about not raising your kids leads them to rob my ass later in life.

Sorry, got off subject a little. I think that anyone that is smart enough to figure out that Peg A goes into Hole B, over and over again should have enough brains to put a condom on. If you make $13,000 a year, guess what? You can't afford kids. You make $35,000 a year? Good for you, but you still cannot afford kids. Pull down six figures? You're better off than others, but you still might be a crappy parent. Think long and hard about the decision. It's life changing for sure and if you aren't ready, I don't want my tax money to raise your kids. Be responsible.

But since the people that I refer to cannot read, I doubt my words will make no difference.

Oscars snub too many

So I was thinking about the Oscars just a minute ago. One of my favorite sites, Pajiba (http://www.pajiba.com) was going over the Oscar nods in their usual fashion. They think like I do, that's why I love their site.

Anyway, I was thinking of all the great films from 2009 that didn't make the Oscar role-call (I don't count Best Picture since they upped it to 10 noms - since that will inevitably include some I think should be there, but still are not considered for the prize - stupid voters).

District 9 was easily the best sci-fi movie. Star Trek was great too, but D9 was better in so many ways. One of the best of the year since it dealt with racism, human mentality, cruelty and poverty with a believable, mysterious alien presence. Most remarkable is that it wasn't set in Los Angeles, or even America. South Africa was the setting. Apartheid anyone?

(500) Days of Summer was/is the only romcom that I actually loved. I watched it with my wife and the movie was such a relief to the crap that usually comes out. I don't normally subject myself to romcoms at all. I refuse. Pajiba got me to watch it. Plus, I think Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one of the best actors out right now (barring G.I. Joe - don't know what he was thinking).

Big Fan surprised me too. Patton Oswalt is funny as a stand-up comic, but he took this role to new levels. I was impressed when I saw Jim Carey in Spotless Mind and Will Ferrel in Stranger Than Fiction. Comics can have brilliant turns in non-comedic roles (i.e. Bill Murray). Big Fan nails that point home. Very small, independent movie that was overlooked by a lot of people.

The Brothers Bloom gave me hope that Wes Anderson (who wasn't involved with this movie) can come back to form. He's been slipping since Royals, but came back a little with Darjeeling. I'll see with Fantastic Fox if he comes back.

Wrestling brings me back

When I was young, my very young father and my barely-older-than-me brother would wrestle around on Saturday mornings while watching WWWF (it wasn't always WWF or WWE) and some NWA television shows. They were tame back in those days.

This isn't so much about wrestling as it is about spending time with my father and brother. You see, my mother wasn't into wrestling as much. Her father, my grandfather, was a pretty active watcher of wrestling. I can remember watching it with him also, before he died when I was young.

Now, as I got older, wrestling with my father wasn't going to continue. I was getting stronger and bigger, he was getting older. It became a thing in the past that we did. Kind of like fishing or something. I still do things with my father, but just not the same things. Nothing wrong with that, as we're both adults (although our wives would argue that point) now.

As a father with a son, I find the exercise of wrestling around with him a joy, much like my father must have with me. Although my son doesn't have a brother, he has a younger sister that joins and revels in the fun of being (gently) tossed around the room by their father. A bonding experience to say the least.

So wrestling is fake and it's dangerous. The homoerotic, choreographed, underwear-clad, muscle-bound, comic superhero wannabes are laughable at times. But they do serve a purpose. Entertainment for family to bond. Much like a circus, rodeo, monster truck jam, or hopefully what most of you do, go to a museum (gasp!)or other culturally significant place (double gasp!).

So you might make fun of wrestling, but then again, I can make fun of off-roading or whatever you do with your kids. The point isn't to find humor in what others do that you do not. The point is to see that bond being created and nurtured. Good luck parents.

First

So this is the first entry in my blog. I never really thought I would blog. I do work in a technology field, but never thought much of blogging, twittering or using Facebook. At best, I use the Internet to screw around, reading other blogs, looking for downloads or researching things. So I'm joining the new society that was created by my generation but fully embraced by those after mine.

I'm strongly opinionated and just want an outlet to express myself. Kind of like bringing that old dream to become a famous writer. At least here, I will be published. Like the real world, nobody will probably ever read this...

I hope to piss off a bunch of you, make others think a little more and confuse the rest of you. Enjoy.
